Call for Direct Support Professional Awards Nomination

Nominations are now being accepted for the 10th Annual DSP Awards. Nominees must have made significant and unique contributions in enriching the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Selected Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) will be honored at the AAIDD of Illinois Annual Conference: Building a Community Where Each Belongs, on May 22nd, 2008 where AAIDD of Illinois will honor the Award recipients at the DSP Awards Lunch Ceremony. The recipient will receive the following:

· Attendance to the full day of the Conference free of charge

· A copy of the permanent entry of their name on the United States
Congressional Record

· A check for $100.00

· Free luncheon attendance for one guest.

Nominees should work in a direct support role, with over 50% of their time spent working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities. Staff who work primarily in QMRP or Manager roles are not eligible. Individuals may not be nominated if they have received a DSP award in the past.

All nominations must be completed on the Direct Support Professionals Nomination Form provided below. Please complete all areas of the form, and include the significance, quality and uniqueness of the DSP’s contributions, along with the duration of the work. Evidence of how the DSP has made a significant impact on lives of those they support and/or on the program at your organization, is critical to the selection process.

Nominations must be received by March 31, 2008, and signed by the Executive Director of the organization to be considered by the DSP Awards Committee. The decisions of the Committee will be final, and will be communicated to the organizations by April 15, 2008.
