The mission of the Chapter is to advance the knowledge and skills of professionals in the field by sharing information and ideas in order to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In pursuit of this mission, the Chapter will engage in and promote activities that are consistent with the following values:

• Development of human resources and leadership in the field.
• Quality services and supports that foster community inclusion and participation.
• Dissemination and application of basic and applied research.
• Advocacy of progressive public policies.
• Enhancement of public awareness and attitudes.
• Advocacy for human rights, including equality and individual dignity.
